• In 1977 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks began as a guild with 71 members
  • In 1981 the guild became the 68th chapter of National Assistance League
  • In 1978 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks opened Senior Sampler located in Washoe County Senior Services Center. Senior Sampler is a consignment shop where over 300 talented senior crafters and artists display and sell their handmade items.
  • In 1980 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks opened Food Pantry. This project supplies bags of nutrious food and staples to needy senior citizens.
  • In 1984 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks began Operation School Bell. Operation School Bell provides near poverty level children with new, appropriate clothing for the school year.
  • In 1989 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks formed Charmanta Auxiliary. This is a group of women who either work full time or who have limited time to work as volunteers for the Assistance League.
  • In 1995 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks opened its Thrift Shop on Wells Ave. Six years ago Thrift Shop moved into our Chapter House at 1701 Vassar Street.
  • In 1995 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks added Assault Survivor Kits to our growing list of philanthropic projects. In collaboration with Sexual Assualt Support Services, Assistance League Volunteers assemble clothing and personal items in kits for victims of sexual assault.
  • In 2002 Assistance League of Reno-Sparks initiated our newest project Links to Learning. The goal of this project is to select talented, innovative elementary school teachers and reward them with monies to fund classroom projects.

It takes many hands and hearts to make Assistance League of Reno-Sparks a success. We are always looking for new members. There are no service time requirements for members. We all just work as many hours as we can. We know two things: we know charity begins at home, and our projects are an important part of our community.
